Examples of racism in worldwide society
An example of racism in present time would be the Trayvon Martin incident, because a seventeen year old named Trayvon Martin was killed by George Zimmerman, because he looked "suspicious". On February 26, 2012 Trayvon Martin was returning from a convenience store and George Zimmerman reported him to the Sanford Police and told them that Trayvon looked suspicious. Moments later Trayvon Martin who was unarmed was shot in the chest. George Zimmerman was not charged at the time saying that there was no evidence that he had committed a crime. This event displays racism, because George Zimmerman called the police and told them that Trayvon seemed suspicious, because of the way he looks. I believe that what George Zimmerman did was wrong, because it is rude to think of someone a certain way, because of their race.
